What Does The Salivary Glands?

    The salivary glands are in your mouth and will help in the digestion by releasing a liquid, saliva, to help break down food, making it easier to swallow and helping it go down the "pipes" throat more smoothly.  Racoons do not have salivary glands, that is why they have to eat near a water source otherwise they would joke on their food.  Some think that they are really clean animals because they do this but it is actually because they have to
