Shopping for clothes online is similar to shopping online for usual things such as DVDs and other electronic items. Shops such as 'Next' and 'Topshop' offer online shopping services.

The usual way to shop online is to create an account with your selected shop. Take 'Next', for example. They offer a service which allows you to create an account if you sign up for their seasonal catalogue, which is usually priced at around £3.50. This gets delivered to your door every season, along with special catalogues for events such as Christmas.

Once you have created an account, you can shop for clothes. With some shopping sites, you can choose to either display the images of the clothes or just the text. Obviously images would be better because you can then view what the item looks like and whether or not you like the style. Once you have made your choice, then you select the correct size. The site will often have a size guide to help you select which size you think is right for you. Once you have picked your size, add the the item to your shopping cart. Here, you will have the option of proceeding to checkout or to continue shopping.

When you have made your choice and proceeded to checkout, you will fill in your address details, and have the option of leaving delivery instructions.

If you receive your item and it does not fit you or you aren't happy with it, then you can return it. With 'Next' for example, you have the choice of taking the item to the post office to return it, or a courier can come and collect the item. Instructions for return are usually included with the item. 'Next' also allow you to check your balance onscreen, so you can see how much you need to pay for the item, as they give you the choice of paying in installments or outright payment. They will send you statements informing you of what you have purchased, what you need to pay, and when your first payment should reach them by. 'Next' accept various methods of payment, including cheque, payment by phone, postal order and other various methods.
