What Is Tourism?

Tourism is the commercial organization which will take u to visit the interesting places at the holidays.

Tourism- The act of touring. Such actions include shopping, site seeing, dining out, going to area attractions such as: theme parks, water parks, putt-putt golf courses, go-kart tracks, clubs, theatres, etc. It is simply, going to a town and trying to take in as much of the local interests in a short amount of time.

The best tourists can tour a city in about a week or two. They plan their itinerary before they leave, but of course things can change so always have a plan B. That is Tourism in a nutshell.

Tourism is best defined as the act of travelling for the sake of pleasure and enjoyment.  The World Tourism Organization defines it as the act of travelling and staying in places by people for the sake of leisure, business and other purposes. Though tourism has existed since the ancient days, nowadays it has become an extremely popular and global activity. The year 2004 recorded over 763 million international tourist arrivals.

It is a service industry and consists of several elements such as transportation, accommodation and the other factors that constitute a hospitality industry. It is major industry in several areas and countries which generates a lot of income. The terms tourism and travel are often used interchangeably though literally there is a difference. Tourism is encouraged by the government and the ruling authorities. A person who indulges in tourism is known as tourist.

Tourism is the art, business and science of attracting visitors, transporting and accommodating them and graciously catering for their needs and wants. It involves traveling i.e. Leaving your home of aboard and moving to a destination u have been motivated to go to, staying for more than a day but less than a year without gaining income through business from such destination but rather you spend in the destination and finally you return back to your starting point which is your home of aboard.
