    The Secretary of Agriculture of the United States under the administration of President Jimmy Cater was Robert Selmer Bergland. He was the Secretary of Agriculture throughout the Presidency of Jimmy Carter from the year 1977 to 1981. His predecessor was John Knebel and his successor in office was John R Block.

    Robet Bergland was born in Roseau, Minnesota on the 22nd of July 1928. His background of agriculture dates back to his childhood days. He was brought up on a farm and still lives there. He studied agriculture at the prestigious University of Minnesota. He was working as an official for the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service from the year 1963 to 1968. Before becoming the Secretary of Agriculture he was from the year 1971 to 1977 elected as part of the United States of House of Representatives.
