God wanted his people, Israelites/Jews/Hebrews to be freed from slavery so they could go to the land that God had given to them centuries earlier. The way that He chose was to call on Moses, a Jewish man who had been raised in Pharaoh's home, and Aaron, Moses' brother. He told them what to do and what to say.

Each time Pharaoh hardened his heart against God and the promise that he deceitfully made during each plague. He would always promise that if Moses would have God remove the specific plagues (including blood in the Nile River, frogs and gnats), that he would let the Hebrew slaves go free.

No doubt, Moses and Aaron probably went to the homes of Israelites to pray and encourage them, during each plague.
