This is a really interesting question. In plants with rare exceptions, a plant cell is bound by a cellulose cell wall. Whereas in animals a cell wall is absent in an animal cell. Plants contain a green pigment, chlorophyll, contained in chloroplasts but chlorophyll is absent in animals. Plants with chlorophyll are able to manufacture organic food from carbon dioxide and water using radiant energy from sunlight. While animals feed on complex plant and animal materials i.e. holozoic nutrition.
Plants unlike animals do not possess a nervous system and respond slowly to external stimuli. Most plants have unlimited growth throughout their lifetime but for most animals growth is to an extent limited. Plants usually have a spreading and branching form with no definite symmetry, where animals have compact bodies and a definite symmetry. Organs of locomotion are absent in most plants so they cannot move from one place to another by themselves whereas animals do have such type of organs. A plant cell usually has a large central vacuole filled with cell-sap but for animals vacuoles, if present, are usually small and numerous. Other than this centrioles are absent in plant cells whereas they can be found in animal cells. There are numerous other differences which can also be quoted.

Wow how retarded there are also more obivios reasons why they are not the same such as a plant is heterotrophic and a plant is photosynthetic, animals only reproduce sexually while plants reproduce both asexually and sexually.
Elba, Plants are autotrophs. Animals are heterotrophs. ...btw HOW RETARDED : )
Very useful for my research

Plants help us survive in this wonderful planet, Earth. Animals are cute! Well, some of them at least.

Plants have chlorophyll pigment which helps them to produce food of their own, whereas animals don't have it.

Animal cells do not have rigid cell walls like plant cells. This allows animal cells to form and adopt various shapes. Unlike animal cells, plant cells have chloroplasts for the utilization of sunlight and this is what also gives plant cells their green color.....
