South Asia comprises of India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and the Maldives. Surprisingly Afghanistan and Burma ( not Myanmar, the name that the military junta rechristened Burma as ) are not always considered to be a part of South Asia. The prominent regional groups that constitute South Asia such as SAARC, include Afghanistan but not Burma.
