French is a romantic language that is spoken in many parts of the world. Of course, it is the primary language of France, but there are several other countries where the French language is spoken. These countries include: Canada, Benin, Burkina Faso, Central Africian Republics; Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Luxembourg, Mali, Monoco, Niger, Senegal, and Togo. It is also spoken in the Canadian providence of Quebec and in the Swiss districts of Vaud, Nechatel, and Jura. French is also spoken in parts of the United States. For example, there are cities located in the southern part of the United States such as New Orleans, Louisana and Biloxi, Mississippi where one can here the French language. This is because these areas were primarily settled by French explorers. Those are basically the main areas of the world where the French language is spoken and understood.

French is a Romance language originating in France but spoken in many other parts of the world including Luxembourg, Southern Belgium and Western Switzerland in Europe. In North America, French is spoken in Quebec, New Brunswick, Ontario, other parts of Canada, and parts of Louisiana. Other countries include former French colonies in North Africa and West Africa; in Haiti, Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean; in French Guiana in South America; in Tahiti and numerous other islands in Oceania. It has long been the language of international diplomacy and communication, and although replaced largely by English since World War II, it remains de rigueur (of obligatory requirement) for educated people around the world to have some level of basic French ability.
