Well presuming that one has a natural flair and ability for boxing and one wants to become an amateur boxer just for the pleasure that one derives from it, then one has to first enroll himself at any boxing clubs or gyms where the sport is pursued. There one can avail of the facilities and more importantly a good coach who can teach the basics from the stance to the defending tactics and attacking moves, all compatible with the latest rules and regulations of the sport. After a rigorous training regimen which may be of a duration of six months to a year depending on one's progress one then goes through the sparring sessions with other boxers before one is ready for the real thing.

Generally amateur boxers who are good enough and perform well at amateur boxing events graduate to the professional level or national level ultimately representing the country at the International sporting events like the Olympic games. But for those who would like to pursue boxing as a professional sport it would be better to contact the national boxing association or any such organization coming under the international boxing federation in their country by which they would be able to train under a certified coach with the best of facilities.
