Devonport is a place found in Devon, a large county in south west England bordered by Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset. Formerly Devonport was known by the name of Plymouth Dock. Today it is a district in Plymouth though at one point of time it was a very important settlement in its own right. The city of Plymouth that was formed in 1928 originally constituted of three towns that included Devonport along with Plymouth and East Stonehouse. These three places were merged in 1914 and later went on to become the city of Plymouth.

Devonport possesses its own town centre, railway station, swimming pool park, sports ground and a football club. Plymouth College is also situated here. Devonport is also the operating centre for the Torpoint Ferry service carried on in the Hamoaze (River Tamar).
