What Census Records Are Available On The Findmypast Website?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Find my Past site at www.findmypast.com contains transcriptions of the census records from 1841 and it enables you to do a person search and also an address search. This is helpful if you know where you ancestor was but you cannot find them in the person search – they may have been mistranscribed but you may recognise their surname when looking through the place details.

Find my past also has transcriptions for the 1861 census, the 1871 census and the 1891 census. You can do a person search and an address search for each of these also.

The site does not have the records for 1851 or 1881 as the latter is available as a free and fully transcribed index on www.familysearch.org , the site of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. It is also available widely on CD. The 1851 census is the subject of many transcriptions by family history societies that have been done in the UK, and, again, these are readily available.
