Why Is My Friend Vomiting When He Remembers?

My friend Andy recently confessed to being sexually abused throughout the majority of his childhood. I am very concerned for him because of the way that he is reacting upon acknowledging it. When he told me about it, he said he was sick to his stomach and he threw up. He is seeing a professional but he is always nauseated when he talks about what happened and he gets very sick.

That is normal. There is probably a lot of trauma from what happened and every time he talks about it he get's sick. I think it's great that he is seeing a professional about it because they will help him. Just be patient with him and let him talk about it on his own and just let him vent and it should get a lot easier for him. Good luck to you and your friend.

I wasn't abused but I feel nauseous when I receive unwanted attention from some guys. The mind's pain or discomfort can manifest itself into physical symptoms. The more he speaks about it and comes to terms with his past, the less it'll happen.
