By a year, you both should have the kissing between you two down.

I know that in the first few weeks it's kind of awkward with some guys I've dated, but usually that means it's because communication is lacking.

Tell him what you like and don't like, ask him what he likes and doesn't like.

Trust and communication are the keys to a happy relationship. If you already have the trust down, work on the communcation. It sounds like a happy relationship other than that.

Oh, I had the same problem =). It really depends on the person and if he has had any experience with kissing. My first bfr's kissing was... well weird and not very... pleasant :D. But he liked it so I never dared to tell him anything. I know communication is usually the way but when someone truly believes he's bringing you pleasure you can't just tell him: well, uhh no, sorry, you don't kiss very well. I know you should bring it up carefully and say: why don't you try something more different... But the hidden meaning is obvious and the other will always get hurt.
The second bfr didn't have that problem 'cause he was way older and more experienced than me. He actually taught me through actions not through words. If you don't like something don't just tell him that. Show him something and fix his mistakes through your own actions. You have to do something better before you start teaching others how to do it =). This is because you hurt the other's feelings.
