Elephant polo is a kind of polo that is played on along the sides of the riding Elephants. It is a common sport in Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Here it is a very common sport as the working elephants are still common. In the game, there are two people that ride the elephants and the elephant is steered by a mahout. The player tells the mahout which way to go and accordingly hits the ball. It is a part of the tradition in Nepal and the people enjoy the sport there. The mahouts are professionals in handling the elephants and therefore they convey the verbal commands to the elephant. They do this by applying pressure on the back of the elephant's ears with the help of their feet. In the past years records not many people have seen to be falling during the game. Therefore it is a safe game and enjoyed by the people.
