How Do Men Get Breast Cancer?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A cancer of breast tissue is known as breast cancer. It is the most common cancer in women the world over. It is the most harmful cancer affecting women after lung cancer, and the spurt in the number of cases since the 1970s has been partially blamed on western lifestyle. Although men can develop breast cancer, it is a rare phenomenon. Of all breast cancer, less than 1% can be seen in men. Also, it comprises less than 1% of all cancers affecting men. It usually afflicts men over the age of 60. Presently female and male breast cancer are paired together and given the same treatment. Unfortunately, the exact causes are still debatable.

Risk factors include growing older, high estrogen levels, Klinefelter syndrome, strong family history and exposure to radiation. It can sometimes be seen due to inherited gene mutations.
