Lilleshall is a village that is located in Shropshire, England. It is situated between Telford and Newport, on the A518, in the Telford and Wrekin borough and the Wrekin constituency. The very famous monument, The Lilleshall Monument is a familiar sight which stands on top of Lilleshall Hill. This monument was built in honor of the Duke of Sutherland. It is believed that this particular place was created, along with The Wrekin by a Giant who was shipping a spade full of earth with which he anticipated to lay to rest the town of Shrewsbury. The village dates back to the Anglo Saxon era. The Dukes of Sutherland were one of the richest families in the United Kingdom, due to the industrial growth in the 19th century.
