What Is The 9/11 Truth Movement?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The so-called 9/11 truth movement is a group of conspiracy theorists who reject the official account of what happened in the United States on September 11th, 2001, and believe that, rather than Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, elements of the United States government itself were in some way involved in what happened.

The movement tends to be divided into what are called MIHOPers and LIHOPers. According to the LIHOP thesis, which stands for Let It Happen on Purpose, the US government had foreknowledge of the attacks and allowed them to go ahead so that it could reap political advantage from them. The MIHOP (Made it Happen on Purpose) view, on the contrary, holds that the US government orchestrated the September 11th attacks entirely on its own and that no real terrorists were involved.

Both MIHOPers and LIHOPERs tend to believe that the Bush administration had a pre-existing militaristic agenda for which it would have been difficult to win public support if the attacks had not occurred.
