The operation of LASIK is done with the patient when he is in his sences, awake and mobile. but, the patient commonly is given a low sedative such as Valium and anesthetic eye drops.

LASIK is operated in two steps.
    • The first step is to develop a flap of corneal tissue. A corneal suction ring is devoted to the eye, holding the eye in place. This step in the process can many times becomes the reason of small blood vessels to burst,at a result bleeding or subconjunctival hemorrhage into the white (sclera) of the eye, a hurtless side effect that resolves within a few weeks. in the treated eye increased suction typically becomes the reason of a transient dimming of vision. Once the eye is immovabled, the strike with something broad is created.

This procedure is found with a mechanical microkeratome with the help of a metal blade, or a femtosecond laser microkeratome that is a procedure known as IntraLASIK that develop a sequences of small nearly arranged bubbles within the cornea.A hinge is left at one end of this flap. The procedure of lifting and folding back the flap can be uneasy and painful.

    • The second step of the process is to use an excimer laser (193 nm) to remodel the corneal stroma. The laser vaporizes tissue in a finely controlled method without destroying adjacent stroma by releasing the molecular bonds that hold the cells together.
