Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Sir Matt Busby was born in Scotland in May nineteen hundred and nine.

Most famous for his exploits as Manchester United manager, few are aware that Busby played for two of United's fiercest rivals.

Busby signed for the blue half of Manchester in nineteen twenty nine and stayed with the Sky Blues for seven years, playing in two hundred and twenty six league games, scoring fourteen goals.

In nineteen thirty six, Busby moved down the East Lancs road to United's most hated of rivals Liverpool.  Busby spent four years parading the red of Liverpool, and featured in one hundred and eighteen league games for the Anfield outfit, and scored three goals.

After retiring form the game in nineteen forty, he moved into management some five years later, and took over at Manchester United.  He remained at United for twenty four years as manager during his first management stint with United.
