How Do You Fix The Drivers Side Electric Window?

My 99 chevy astro has electric windows and the drivers side door occassionally works. It ususally has no problem going down, but when I go to close it, it runs up partially, and then stops. I have to wait a little while, and then hit the button, and it goes up a little more.... this is a lengthy process to close the window, especially when I get home. Any Idea what is causing this..... My automotive skills are moderate, and my electrical skills are good. Please help

It sounds the motor is going out (the electrical motor for the window- not the whole car--ha ha)  You have to take the drivers door panel off  to check it, it might just be a loose connection to which you would be able to see once you got in there.  Otherwise, you can get a motor either at an auto supply dealer , or a salvage yard.  Good Luck.

More than likely the motor has failed.  Remove the door panel and take out the motor.  On some of the 99 chevey models, there are no fasteners.  Just snaps in and out.  Soe are held in by rivetts, which must be cut off and then use 10-24 screws to re-attach.  Although the switch can create this same problem, the motor is relatively cheaper and should be replaced first.
