Who Is Hanif Muhammad?

Hanif Muhammad was one of the stylish batsman,Pakistan has ever produced.He held the record of scoring highest score in first-class cricket .He scored 499 runs ,playing for Karachi  against Bahawalpur in 1958-59.This record was later on , broken by West Indian Left hander Brian Charles Lara.

Long before Tendulkar and Gavaskar lived, another man by the name Hanif Muhammad held the title of Little Master. The original Little Master belonged to Pakistan and became their first ever International Star who with his sheer presence of mind and his concentration stole the show most of the times. Born in 1934, he started his career at the very young age of 18. His 337 against the west Indies (which is the longest innings in record books) which had one of the best bowling attacks proves his class. He not saved themselves a match but was also able to instil the trust in other batsman to be able to play as good as he could.

Later on he played another record breaking innings but that in first class cricket. He made 499 runs before getting run out. A world record that remained for 3 decades until broken by another genius of long innings Brian Charles Lara. In 55 test matches that he represented Pakistan, he averaged 43.98 with 12 hundreds. Each of them had the signatures of the "Little Master".

Hanif Muhammad has accomplished many achievements and one that includes is the invention of Reverse Sweep. A shot which has been employed by many batsman of today. For his performances he has been awarded the Wisden Cricketer of the year in 1968. Hanif's brothers and son have also played cricket for Pakistan and has earned a great respect in the cricketing circle.
