Can You Use A Gauge 10 4 Wire, To A 3 Prong Outlet?

I'm moving my dryer to a new location. The dryer has a 3 prong cord, I was going to use the 3 prong outlet, but the 10 gauge wire I bought is 4 wires. Where do you put the grounding wire?

Are you running wire in the wall to extend the power to the new dryer location?  Is it the correct type wire to run concealed? Please check carefully.
You say you have a 10/4 (maybe it is really 10/3 with ground)  cable which includes a neutral and dryers don't normally use neutrals.  You should either return the cable and get 10/2 with ground and connect the ground to the ground screw on the orig. Outlet, or---just connect the red and black wires (keep extra wire taped and out of the way) on your (10/3) or 10/4 cable, plus connect the ground wire (should be green) to the ground screw on the outlet.  MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF POWER FIRST
