Why Does Everyone On Different Parts Of The Earth Se The Same Phases Of The Moon On The Same Day/?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The moon's rotation on its own axis is synchronised to its orbit around the Earth, - in other words, it takes the moon the same time to revolve once on its own axis as it does to make 1 orbit of the Earth. Thus the same face is always presented to the Earth  which is why we never see the 'Dark Side of the moon. Due to the relative positions of the sun, earth and moon, it is not possible for people on oposite sides of the world to see different faces of the moon at the same time.
