Bio-data is the data related to your biography. A single job opening may solicit thousands of applications. The recruiter has just a few minutes to decide which candidate has to be short-listed and whether the bio-data deserves consideration. A well written, concise, and to the point Bio-data will definitely catch the eye of the reviewer

Writing a Bio-data is an art. It should express and reflect the personality of the candidate in totality. Bio-data should be so well framed that it makes you stand out from the crowd, ultimately leading to a job interview.

The first aspect to be covered is a brief summary about oneself, your experience, education, special skills, technical skills, strengths and accomplishments. All information you furnish should be in tune with the requirements of the job. Give details of all volunteer work, skills, accomplishments, extra curricular activities, awards, honors you have received, academically or professionally.

Include your contact information address, phone number, mobile number, e-mail id, URL. An objective statement, giving an idea about the person's objective in prospective job can be included.

Names and contact details of a list of persons, who can be referred to, may or may not be given. One may include other personal information such as willingness to travel.

Organise all data systematically, make a proper presentation, include only relevant information. The Bio-data should have a good format and style.

Your bio-data should contain your full name in the order of first name, middle name (or names) and last name, your date of birth in the order of the day, the month (in words) and the year in which you were born, your permanent postal address (or addresses) and telephone numbers for contact, your academic qualifications (starting with the most recent qualifications), your work experience (starting with the most recent job), your hobbies, a set of three to four references (with their postal addresses and telephone numbers), your recent passport-sized photograph, your signature and your application letter (along with a covering letter).

It must be kept in mind that your bio-data must be typed on a quarto-sized sheet of bond paper which is white in colour, clean and does not have any creases on it.
