What Is The Largest Desert?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

That depends on what you're thinking of as a desert.  Deserts are technically defined as areas that receive less than 10 inches (250 mm) of rainfall a year.  By that definition, the world's largest desert is on the continent of Antarctica, with about 5.34 million square miles (13.83 million square kilometers).  The largest "hot" desert is the Sahara desert in northern Africa, with approximately 3.32 million square miles (9.1 million square kilometers).
