Why Women Got The Vote In Britain?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Women gained suffrage in 1918 (only women over a certain age!) after years of campaigning in two very separate groups termed the 'suffragettes' the extremist group whose hysterical behaviour hampered the extension of the franchise and the 'suffragists' who believe in peaceful protesting. After the First world war a minature cultural revolution took place, attitudes becoming slightly diluted in terms of sexism particularly due to the roles of men which women filled during the first world war.
