Can Anyone Do The Atkins Diet? Does It Really Work?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Atkins Diet is not for everyone. Anyone looking into it should read up on it as much as possible.  Examine manufacturer resources and third party medical advice that pertains to low carbohydrate dieting.

Some medical professionals will argue that no one should start this type of diet without physician recommendations.  Study results are almost inconclusive as to whether this carbohydrate restriction diet is actually more effective at weight loss than simply eating less without removing any carbohydrates.

Diets that are proportionally high in protein are thought to be detrimental to those with kidney disease or gout, and may lead to the development of heart disease.  It is also thought that the lack of carbohydrates may lead to extra emotional strain in some people.

Consider eating less as a weight loss option, but I don't recommended signing up for this diet just yet.  Try simply eating a bit less of your normal diet and exercise regularly to hopefully burn more calories per day than you intake.
