If you are planning to a research of a local artist (which is a great topic) then what you can do is: First read about the topic and narrow down your topics. Search for the key subject, sub-categories and sources. After that limit your choices and focus on a key group or person (biography) or particular event or time period. After narrowing down your topic classify your thesis according to 4C's: Causes, Context, Course and consequences.
