The Electrons In An Atoms Outer Shell Are Often Called What Electrons, can You Help Me?

Answer Question

The electrons present in outer most shell of an atom are known as valence electrons. These electrons play an important rule in bond formation. If there are less than eight valence electrons in an atom, then the atom is unstable. When an unstable atom or neutral atom combine with other atoms to complete its valence shell, new molecules of different compounds are formed. Ions are formed when an atom loses or gains electrons. In ionic bond, the valence electrons are transferred from one atom to other atom. In covalent compounds, atoms share valence electrons to complete their outer most shell. Moreover, metallic compounds can conduct electricity due to valence electrons.
