How Long Does It Take To Study To Practice Acupunture?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Acupuncture is best learnt from accredited institutes as this will enable one to set up a commercial practice, to teach or to become a professional acupuncturist, unless intended for personal use alone. Most institutes offering courses in acupuncture require some form of mainstream or conventional medical background such as doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, health visitors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and podiatrists, as acupuncture is considered more an alternative or complementary discipline of medical science.

Most institutions offer three year part time or full time courses. Part of the course also has some practical internship or practice as part of their curriculum. Courses are offered by the British Medical Acupuncture Society, the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, the Centre for Complementary medicine, the Foundation for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Japanese Acupuncture, the International Acupuncture Training, etc.
