The song 'What I Need' by Ray J is a song about a break up and how the singer is trying to win his girl back. He is explaining his girlfriend that he has made a lot of mistakes in his life and swears never do it again. He did not really value her much when they were seeing each other. But now, when she is not by his side, he feels lonely without her and no other girl can replace her in his life. He tells her that he really loves and just wants to be with her. The singer is telling her to work things out and she is the only one he needs and will ever need. The song had reached the number 58 spot in the US R&B and Hip Hop countdown.
