Bill Paying. Am I Obliged To Pay Off Her Debt Or Does It Die With Her?

My mother died 4 weeks ago and I have just been sent a phone bill, as I wrote to them explaining of her death. Am I obliged to pay off her debt Or does it die with her.

    I am sorry that you have lost your mum. She would have been liable for her phone bill, so if she had money or property when she died it should be used to pay the phone bill and any other outstanding creditors before her estate is distributed.

      You don't have any obligation unless it is a joint bill.  I'm sorry to hear about your mother's passing.

        The only way the bill can fall to you is if you filed jointly, at which point you would become the primary debtor and still owe otherwise without this fact, you have no obligation to pay.
