    Stoke-on-Trent is a town in the county of Staffordshire in England. It is located in the West Midlands region of England. It comprises six major towns that originally made up the federation of Stoke-on-Trent, namely the towns of Hanley, Stoke, Burslem, Tunstall, Longton and Fenton. In addition, the town of Stoke-on-Trent also comprises the following suburbs, namely Bentilee, Bucknall, Etruria, Meir, Middleport, Trentham, Shelton, Smallthorne and Sneyd Green.

    Hanley was the only one among the six old towns to be a county borough before the merger in 1910. Stoke is the nickname of Stoke-on-Trent. It is the seat of the city council of Stoke-on-Trent. Burslem is affectionately known as the Mother Town of the six towns that make up Stoke-on-Trent. Tunstall is the northernmost town of the six towns that make up the city of Stoke-on-Trent. Longton was famous for its pottery industry. Fenton is not only the name of several places in the United Kingdom, but also the name of several places in the United States of America. It is also the last name of a number of prominent personalities from all walks of life.
