    The leaning tower of Pisa has seven floors. It is a campanile, and an unattached bell tower, of the cathedral in the Italian city of Pisa. It is placed right at the back of the Cathedral and is one of the third structures of Pisa's Campo dei Miracoli.

    The leaning tower of Pisa was built in three stages over the period of two hundred years. The first floor construction started of on August 9th 1173, which was a period of military success and prosperity. A mystery surrounds, on who was the original architect of the leaning tower of Pisa. For many years it was said that Guglielmo and Bonanno Pisano, famous 12th century artist originating from Pisa itself who were renowned for their bronze casting. In the year 1964 the Italian government suggested that aid be given to the tower, to avoid it from toppling.
