I have a low thyroid gland (Hypothyroidism) and the main symptom I had before I went on Thyroxin was feeling cold all the time, even when I went to a hot country. Another symptom was that my skin, hair and nails were extremely dry. I had no energy and was tired all the time. Once you are diagnosed and are given Thyroxin, you feel fine

Thyroid gland is very important gland of body as it controls the metabolism. This gland is located on the front side of neck. The thyroid gland secrets thyroid hormones under the influence of hypothalamus. Weight lose is the symptom of hyperthyroidism and weight gain is seen with hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism can lead to weight gain if left untreated
Hypo causes weight gain, and hyper causes weight loss. However that is not always true. The thing is that you need to have it tested and on the right levels or you will not function at optimal best.
