What Is The Best Way To Train A Hunting Dog?
I would like to train my puppy american bulldog to help bird hunting. What is the best way? I have 2 indoor doggs (a labpit mix & a shepherd/lab mix that are totally house dogs). )Plus I am new to Blurtit, so excuse me If I am not asking the appropriate questions. Thank you.

Bird hunting dogs can be very difficult to train until they catch on. Sometimes you have to actually get a bird to show them so they know what they are looking for. Another way is to take them out roaming and hope they stumble across one. While training it is crucial to find out if your dog is gun shy, it is very important during a hunt that your dog does not run away or stop listening to commands. Hope this helps.

To do this you would have to start them off when they are old enough to walk very good so when they are probably about 6-7 months old you could take them out and train them and then show them the other animals that you want to hunt and say sick'em or something like that
