      The following are the words that Buzz Aldrin said,  after landing on the Moon,  he  radioed earth and stated, "I'd like to take this
      opportunity to ask every person listening in, whoever and wherever they
      may be, to pause for a moment and contemplate the events of the past
      few hours, and to give thanks in his or her own way."

      And while I have not been able to find his first words from the Moon's surface, he did describe the surface as,:  "Magnificent Desolation", this is also the name of one of his books.
