Can I Install Ceramic Tile On Vinyl Flooring?

I have a 10-8 bathroom and want to install 12x12 tiles. There are existing individual vinyl 12x12 tiles that I don't want to remove but will. I would like to lay the thin set and then the tile if I can. Your thoughts?

When installing tile it needs to be put on hardibacker and is available at Lowe's and home depot. Also make sure the floor is level before installing the tile because if it isn't and you lay the tile any way it will cause stress on the tiles when walked on and they will crack. Here is a pic of the tile I put in my shower, and I installed it on top of hardibacker. Please keep in mind my bathroom isn't done... s222.photobucket.com

I would remove the vinyl! It is a lot  of work but when you are done your satisfaction level will be much greater than to skate and leave the vinyl down!

Yes you can. It is best to pull it up.
