Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A betting exchange is basically the term used to describe a P2P (peer to peer) website dealing with activities related to gambling, wherein the website acts as a broker or intermediary between parties for the purpose of placing bets. The basic idea resembles what is implemented in a stock exchange; however the difference being in this case that the product which is being traded is a bet, not a stock. Majority of the betting that takes place in a betting exchange is a kind of fixed odds gambling.

Similarly to other kinds of exchanges, betting exchanges flourish on liquidity and users are likely to concentrate on the exchange in which they are sure that their bet will be coupled with a counter bet that matches.

These types of exchanges make most of their returns by charging a fee or a commission which can be expressed as a percentage of the net earnings for every winner on every event.
