How To Catch Bass Coming Off Their Beds?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Bass come of the beds when the post spawn period kicks in. This season is generally in summer which lasts from between June through August. At this point of time bass remain in shallower waters to regain their strength. The kind of bait to be used is cranked baits or slow baits and those that are smaller in size and generally green in colour. The reason why bass prefer green bait at this point of time is that their major food source is chartreuse or green in colour. Several of these, especially including the sunfish, are of an orange minor colour. The fish are also exhausted and so lethargic after the spawn and hence don't particularly go looking for bigger meals. The thumb rule of "bigger bait bigger fish" does not ring true at this point of time.
