The Original Shannara Trilogy comprises the first three Shannara novels, namely The Sword of Shannara (January 1977), The Elfstones of Shannara (1983) and The Wishsong of Shannara (April 12, 1985).
In The Sword of Shannara (the first book in the trilogy), the two protagonists, the Ohmsford brothers Shea and Flick proceed to retrieve the sword to defeat the Warlock Lord who threatens the Four Lands. The Elfstones of Shannara, the second book of the novel, revolves around Shea Ohmsford's grandson Wil Ohmsford's attempts to aid the endangered Elven nation.
The Wishsong of Shannara is the third and final book of the trilogy. It is about Wil Ohmsford's children Jair and Brin's efforts to save the Four Lands from an evil spell of magic which is cast from within a book which is entitled the Ildatch.
