Bill Clinton appointed two judges to the Supreme Court during his presidency. They were Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer. They were both appointed at an interval of one year the former being appointed in 1993 and the latter in 1994. Of these two the first was a woman and what made her unique was that she was the first woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court by a Democratic President. She is the second woman in history to serve on the Supreme Court and the first Jewish Woman in history.

Ruth Bader has been a professor of Law at the Rutgers University School and at the Columbia Law School. She has also been very active in movements concerning women's rights. Stephen Gerald Breyer along with Ruth Bader is considered to be part of the Court's liberal side. He comes from a long family of men in Legal professions.
