Where Are Cedar Trees Found?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Cedar trees are native to the Mediterranean region and the lofty mountains of the Western Himalayas in Asia. In the former they are found growing at altitudes of 1,000-2,200m and in the latter at 1,500-3,200m. However different varieties of these tall trees can be found sporadically in almost all parts of the globe.

Cedar trees are generally approximately 40-50 m in length and can even grow up to sixty metres. They have an attractive spicy resinous scent. Cedar trees are also distinguished by their broad level branches and square cracked bark. Their leaves are needle shaped and evergreen, while their cones are usually barrel shaped.

Cedar trees belong to the tree genus of Cedrus. They are closely associated with Firs since both of these trees share a very similar cone structure.
