What Came First Mcdonalds Or Burger King?

Answer Question

McDonald's came first.  It was a hamburger stand opened in 1940  by brothers Richard and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino, California. They devised their own food preparation methods, calling them the Speedee Service System, in 1948.  This established the basic principles of how modern fast-food restaurants operate.

In the following decade the business methods and name were leased to others (what's called a franchise), with a man named Ray Kroc opening the ninth McDonald's franchise in Des Plaines, IL, in 1955.  Ray Kroc later took over the corporation, buying out the the McDonald's brothers.  He also introduced a lot more ideas that ultimately made the business such a big world-wide success.

The first Burger King restaurant was started as a fast-food restaurant in Miami, Florida, in 1954, by two graduates of Cornell University. They were copying ideas they had seen at the original McDonald's hamburger stand in San Bernardino, and bought their first milkshake machine from Ray Kroc himself.
