The Mall of America opened on August 11, 1992. It is a shopping mall and is located in Twin Cities, a suburb of Bloomington in the US state of Minnesota.
      
At its opening, the mall became the largest shopping mall in terms of area throughout United States and is ranked 2nd on global scale. The gross area of the mall is 4.2 million square feet, out of which 2.5 million square feet is used as retail space. The number of employees in the mall is 12,000 and it has parking space of 20,000 vehicles.
The unique feature about this mall is that it is visited by approximately 40 million people every year, which is approximately eight times that of the population of Minnesota.
