    Bandwidth decides the cable length and bandwidth is affected by the physical media an dother environmental factors.

    A coaxial cable has kess bandwidth than a fibre.Thus a fibre can carry data at a faster rate and longer distance with less attenuation than with a coax.

      Basically because the data can only be passed along so much length without losing information, you can use a repeater to continue the data along another cable.
