If You Paid A Late Fee With Your Rent, Then How Late Could I Have Been Paying My Rent?

I paid a late fee with the July's rent and landlord said he was going to start eviction due to being late. How late can you be if a late fee is paid, and is this legal in New Jersey?

The landlord can give you an eviction notice if you fail to pay rent even one day late. You might have a grace period if it is mentioned in your lease.

Still, the landlord have to give you written notice and give you statutory notice period to correct your lease violation. You have already paid the rent. Your landlord can't evict you. For more details about law of eviction in New Jersey, visit this link

All landlords have set dates when it is due. Some may have a grace period. As a landlord we all have our tolerances but I wouldn't advise pushing your luck. Once you anger one you can bet that you will be moving shortly. All states vary in their laws also so it's hard to say just how things could or would progress from there.
