What Is Elland Road Football Ground Like?

Answer Question

Despite witnessing the current turmoil surrounding the club that calls it home, and its unglamorous location within a gritty council estate, Elland Road, stands proudly as an inspiration to all ages of supporters of Leeds United. Built in 1904 for the now defunct Leeds City, the newly formed Leeds United played their first game there in 1914.

With a capacity of just over 40,000, Elland Road is the largest capacity football stadium in Yorkshire and the 11th largest in the entire football league. Staging concerts from Queen and U2 in its time, this fine stadium has seen its fair share of legends walk on the hallowed turf. A statue proudly displayed at its entrance depicts Billy Bremner, the clubs greatest captain, revered by generations of Leeds fans.
Rather unusually, the ground is owned by the council as opposed to the club although efforts are currently underway to ensure that the ground is given back to its rightful owners, the fine supporters of Leeds United Football Club.
