I am not to savvy on the martial arts but I would have to agree with Ryanna and try a little of all of them to see which is right for you.

Here is what I would do: Do a little research for all three, and figure out the differences.  Talk to people in your neighborhood who do any of these, and find out what they like/dislike.  Then visit the studios in your area for these sports.  Most places will also let you come for one class, or observe.  Hope this helps!!!

They are quite different... Karate and Tae Kwon Do concentrate on strikes such as punches and kicks, Jujitsu is great for real fighting and is effective from an early level, and Aikido is good if you want to improve your inner discipline and get good at locks.

Don't try all of them, because at the beginner level they might all seem similar. Choose one and do it for a few months.

I think either one is great. My son has been in karate for several years and loves it. I think the difference between karate and tae kwan do is that  karate uses more hands and arms and tae kwon do uses more legs. Karate is Japanese martial arts, tae kwon do is Korean. Have fun!!

What makes you wary? I don't know much history about them.

Often you may have to chose a Martial Art because it is the only one in town, or it is the closest to you, or the most affordable.

If you live in a larger community you may have different options available to you.

If you have done some research either at the public library or on the internet, you will read that each art has a different emphasis towards the same goals.

If you are wary, and you should always be,... it would be probably about the clubs you visited and what they say they offer, what is the instructor's ability (does he look competent or are you comfortable in what he tells you or the students being taught?),  or his/her credentials (do they belong to an organization you can research on the internet and contact ?), how much it will cost and what kind of contract they might make you sign (you may be legally responsible to continue to pay for lessons even after you quit because of the contract length).

Every Martial Art has the potential to be good for you. It all depends on the instruction provided and your own individual ability.   Good Luck in your search!
