The common dolphin is often found around the coasts of Britain.
These dolphin, which are most commonly found during the months of summer and early autumn, where they feed freely off of the sprat, mackerel and eel off the coasts of Ireland and England, in the Atlantic ocean, and off herring moving near the Scottish coast.

In general, a normal pod size would be up to thirty dolphins, but larger ones of a hundred have been seen.
Today the average pod size around British waters is around ten.The schools of dolphin may increase in size however, relative to the quantity and movements of their prey, and this can sometimes occur in the winter months.

They often will feed at night, scattering the shoals of fish to cause confusion, and therefore feed better.
